About Us ULBC CasaBuilders is a growing group of Christian volunteers based in
the San Francisco Bay area, northern CA. Our volunteers are from many different
churches from all over California. Our common bond is our love for our Lord and
Savior Jesus Christ and a heart to serve others by building homes and churches
for needy famillies and communities in the Tijuana area of Mexico.
History Established in 2001, Casabuilders began with 18 people building a single
home in May 2001. The next year, we expanded to facilitate 3 trips and to build
5 homes for needy families. As our casabuilder family began to grow, we added
more trips to accomodate the desire in the hearts of Christians who want to share
in a short-term missions experience. By 2005 we had a trip every month of the
year.More about the beginning of Casabuilders
is available here.ULBC Our trips are typically a 4-day adventure
(first and last days are travel, second and third day are building days).
On all our
building
trips
we
always
invite
their
teenaged children to come and work with us and to be part of the CasaBuilder
teams. Families have found this to be a great relationship-building experience.
Future Goals
We have several scheduled trips for 2008, and have
room on our schedule to add 2 or 3 extra trips as God directs.
He also has placed in our hearts a vision for a new Christian children's home.
This vision is to be called "Mi Casa".
It will be a place where there will be an orphanage, a battered women's ministry
creating jobs for moms (that need to be with their children), a chapel, education
center, family development ministries, gymnasium soccer field, and more.
This will be a place where children can always say, "This is 'Mi Casa" (my
house); where women needing a new start can always say, "This is 'Mi Casa;
but most importantly, where God himself always says, "THIS IS 'MI CASA''.
Our goal is for Mi Casa Children's Home to create a hope and a future for this
upcoming generation in Baja California, Mexico. Visit
our MI CASA Children's Home pages.
In July 2006, we were given 5 acres of land to build this home. Grading of
the property is finished, and the first building (guest dorms) is under way.
Plans of our project are available
